A word from the author: I want to restart duelling now. I've taken a long pause and feel like doing some duels to try and find some inspiration and motivation.
Important notice For every duel from now on, to ensure that my opponent will do his/her half:
- if I am the first to post my duel, I will blur all parts where my opponent's character appears - I'll remove the blur only if my opponent do post his/her half in time - if my opponent can't post until the last moment, he/she can send me some WIP of the duel so that i can see they are actually working on it - I, in exchange, ensure that I'll post something, and that it will be the best I can do at the moment - if, for wathever reason, I'm not able to post something, I'll ask the opponent what he/she would like as a compensation
I'll do this because duels are an exchange between artists and not even trying is showing lack of respect for the other artist ______________________________________________

Profile
Name: Cassandre Sex: Female Alignement: lawful neutral Team: none Weapons : Martial arts / Single Katana "No one's blade"
Bio: Cassandre is a half-blood, with a japanese mother and an european father. She grew up in a small village lost deep in the japanese mountains. Since religion has always been omnipresent around her, she has developped a great respect for the spiritual world and its inhabitants. Actually, she even convinced herself that she was able to see spirits floating around dead corpses, when those didn't receive proper burial (but no one has been able to prove that she do not see them either...) And so she became some kind of self made monk/priestress against the will of her people and is now traveling around Japan, saving lost souls by making small ceremonials next to the corpses. It mainly consists in a little prayer, spilling sake over the corpse (when she hasn't drunk all of it) and leaving a key for the soul to open the door to the other world. She never ask questions about the victim's corpse, it's not her role to judge the souls she saves.
She always carries a lantern with her, whose role seems to be to attract lost spirits towards her (ndla: I stuck the kanji for "guide" and "spirit" on the lantern, but I have no clue if it means something ). Her outfit mainly consists of gifts (read "thefts") granted by the corpses she saved from an eternal life of haunting, except for the katana, given by an old samurai she took care of in the last years of his life. We don't know much about him...
She's usually cheerfull but can become extremly violent when confronted to situation or people who don't respect the sacred essence of human life. People usually find her scary or weird because of her reactions when she sees spirits they can't see (and who might even not exist) floating around : she often look away when talking to people and looks just like a caffein addict squirrel (see "over the hedge" for reference )
Edit : I decided to had a little something to the character because I found it difficult to put ponctual reference to her "see ghost thing" ability. So, I hereby grant her a double personnality thing. That means amongst the ghosts she sees, there will be one of them (called Kasuperu) with which she will talk more often and he will occasionely "possess" her. It is not a "real" ghost, just double personnality manisfesting through her seeing the ghost.
Kasuperu's personnality is fairly different from Cass's. He's lazy, a coward, and selfish, but this personnality is close to a berserk state when fighting (which is very rare since he's a coward) ______________________________________________
And now, Q&A!
Q: Why take part in SDL? A: Because I want to improve my drawings and the way I do comics. And plus, I finally find the concept interessting, so... why not?
Q: Why Cassandre? A: Because I like this character (created for Endzone) and wanted to have her drawn again. And maybe the fact that she's my only real OC played a bit XD .
There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
